Conception

During the progress of this case study I looked into how I could improve and facilitate the trading experience for people that are unfamiliar to any type of trading apps. Trading apps can be intimidating and uninviting to people that have never interacted with them, causing people to become uninterested or avoid these apps completly. I decided to use Wealthsimple in this case study, because personally to me it's one on the best trading apps on the app market currently.

The Problem

People become intimidated with trading app's since they don't know how to trade properly. One of the main issues being that most people don't know when to buy, sell, or what the type of investements to acquire so it best fits their interest. What if we were to integrate features that can applify the trading experience, using the Wealthsimple app.

Project Objective

Learning the Wealthsimple brand and UI language. Discovering solutions for frequently found problems when trading, and creating features that will relieve those pain points. As well as making app stock information more visually appealing and easier to read for the user.

Project Intention

Finding new opportunities by creating feaures that can improve the app. Implementing these new features into the Wealthsimple UI and creating a more improved version of the app.
Understanding the Wealthsimple brand language so these features can have a harmonious transtion into the Wealthsimple app. Ultimately facilitating and amplifying the trading experience

Portions

This feature gives users a visual of how much they own within their porfolio.

History

A drop down menu bar has been added to the Holdings section. It helps keep track of previous stock purchases, the amount purchased, and value of the stock the day it was purchased.

Alerts

The addition of a small drop menu to help keep options organized.

Alert set up

A slider has been added when setting up the price range of an alert, for easier and a more effortless set up. Also providing the option of buy or sell so users are reminded why the alert was set up initially.

Alert Pages

Price buy and price sell are now displayed on the Price Alerts section of the home page. The main Price Alerts page has the addition of the current stock price to help users compare price difference between actual and desired price.

Alert notifications

Price alert notifications have been updated to help users take action the moment the stock hits the desired buy or sell price. The notification will have the buy or sell button which gives users instant accessibility to complete their app transaction.

Forecasting

A switch has been added to a stock page, when activated it will go into dark mode. In this mode users have access to a stock forecast on possible future value and prices. This mode is meant to help more advanced traders plan their trades and not having the need to search for an outiside source to get this information.

Purchase option display

The buy menu options slide up when the user wants to purchase a stock instead of taking them to a new page. This gives quicker access towards completing this action. An info icon is provided on this menu incase some users are still unfamiliar with the buy options.

Adding goals

Within the Fraction Buy option users can add goals!

This allows users to aim for a goal on how much they want to make out of this investment. They have quick options for desired investement goals and limits of when they want to withdraw their investment if the stock crashes. Users can further customize their goals by pressing the "+" icon.

Goal setup

Users are provided a slider that can be adjusted to a customized goal or limit. The values of the goal and limit change as the user interact with the slider. Users also have the option to get an alert when the limit or goal are met. But they also have the option for autonomous trading when limit or goal is met.

Goal pages

On the Goal section of the home page users can see a percentage of how close they are to completing that goal, along with whether the goal is going to trade automatically or set to an alert.

When users are viewing all their goals a visual is displayed showing the progress of their investment, along with how much the invested, their goal and current goal value.

Goals

A bell or dollar icon is going to be displayed right above the symbol depending if the goal is set to an alert or autonomous trade. A settings icon is also added on the top left if users want to make adjustments to their goals. Users can also check the progress of their investment goal and its history while also their current goal and limit being displayed right under the progres visual.

Goal notifications

When receiving a notification when goals or limits are met, users are provided the option to sell their investment or adjust their goal or limit to a new desired value.

Don't know what to invest in?

With the inclusion of this new feature "What should I invest in?", users that are not sure where to invest their money are provided with two plans. They can either go with a long or short term investment plan.

Long and Short term investing

When looking for a long term investment two options are provided. The recommended options being ETFs and a new category Balanced Trading.

For short term investments the recommended options options are crypto currency and a new category Peaker Stocks.

New Categories!

Balanced trading is a collection of secure, low votality stocks that consistantly increase in value as time progresses.

Peaker stocks are a collection of stocks that greatly increase in value in short period of time, but can also drop as quick as it increases. This collection of stock has a greater risk due to its votality.
